Thanks to Andre and Leidra for playing this in the car on the way to our hiking trip at Whipp's Ledges and the Icebox Cave. This mix shows a mastery of slowed down Detroit soul and house grooves layered and looped to create funky textures and moods perfect for driving a car or cutting a rug. It's official: Barry Fell has out-Moodyman-ed Mr. Kenny Dixon, Jr., in my opinion. The only other DJ that I know of that can mix house so sublimely at such a slowed down tempo is Miles Maeda when he's in one of his "Hovering at 7 a.m." moods. Brilliant.
