touch supper club
Today's site of the day is Touch Supper Club, a restaurant slash nightclub located in the Ohio City neighborhood in Cleveland. Touch was recently featured on Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels on the Food Network. Touch recently hired a new executive chef and the food reviews have been outstanding. Various friends have recommended the Somen Noodles, the Swordfish Roll, and the Ravioli. James Cox says about the Egg Roll: "Just had the egg roll... soft shell, served slightly chilled with boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, sticky rice, and mixed & marinated sprouts and greenies on the side. The kicker is the chili-vinegar emulsion (sauce). Holy crap! All the flavors and textures work amazingly well, especially the chili-vinegar to bring it all together. Not your average eggroll in the least regard. It almost tastes like a huge california roll, but with lots more body and zing. Awesome work." Besides the affordably-priced food, Touch also offers some of the best music, too. Each Friday night DJ Mike Metz (Dogglounge, Cleveland-Underground) and guest DJs provide patrons with some of the deepest house found in the Cleveland area. On Wednesdays DJ Tommy Fox plays reggae upstairs while IN:VERSE shines in the basement. IN:VERSE is a happening night of drum and bass with some house and breaks thrown into the mix as well. Those are my choice of nights at Touch, but check their website for details of what goes on each night of the week. Touch is also one of the few nightspots to exhibit local artwork as well. They've also brought in a smorgasborg of both world-class and up-and-coming guest DJs and live musical talent from around the world including The Presets, Neil Chastain (SAFMOD, Pureplex, Latin Jazz Project), Nitty Gritty (DJs Jugoe and Jim Beam), Jeff Samuel, Inbum Cho, Stacy Kidd, Derrick Carter, Jake Childs, and many more. I love Touch because it's laid back, yet still classy. They attract a diverse mix of people as well, and the music, art, and food are on point.
